Schools and teachers: art for secondary schools

Art students draw ammonites

The Museum welcomes visits from secondary school art groups. We offer a range of resources and some taught sessions. All groups must be pre-booked and will receive a short introduction to the museum on arrival. Visits may not exceed 2 hours. As the Museum is a Grade 1 listed stone building, pencils are the only drawing materials permitted.

Online art resources are also available.

The link between the Oxford University Museum of Natural History and Alice in Wonderland is celebrated by Year 10 students from John Mason School in Abingdon with an animation called

Bookbinding workshops
Oxford University Museum of Natural History in conjunction with the Pitt Rivers Museum are offering a series of exciting short workshops in lino-cut printing, scientific illustration, bookbinding and book illustration, using the Museums' inspiring collections. These courses are ideal for those wishing to learn new skills and for students wanting to build an impressive portfolio. They will be led by Robin and Rosie from the Flagstone press, and the workshops will accompany an exhibition of their prints and sculptures in the Natural History Museum.
